Bremen enters NEREUS (Network of European REgions Using Space technologies)
-
Official launch, 18 December 2007. Conseil Régional Midi-Pyrénées, Toulouse, France
-
Bremen is now part of NEREUS (Network of European REgions Using Space technologies). NEREUS was initiated during the GMES Conference 2006 in Toulouse, France, and will build a platform for those European Regions interested in the further development and deployment of GMES services adapted to their particular needs and requirements. The particular role of NEREUS will be to function as an interface as well to the European Commission and stakeholders at the national level. It will also support members to access dedicated funding sources from the European Commission such as Interreg or LIFE+.
-
NEREUS has formally commence operations on 18th December 2007 in Toulouse to be combined with the official announcement of the new name for GMES from the European Commission.

From 25 to 27 September 2007 the INTERGEO in Leipzig took place. It is the world's largest exhibition and communications platform in the branches of geodesy, geoinformation and land management. OHB-System AG, Jacobs University Bremen and rasdaman GmbH presented its Earthlook-demonstrator to a broad audience of specialists.
-
"Earthlook - Breadboard for a large-scale value-added data server" (www.earthlook.org) is a demonstration of both the management of very large raster data objects, as well as an internet-based access to the data by so-called Thin and Thick-Clients. This service provides a seamless access to 2D, 3D and also 4D-maps of different resolutions and content. The Clients are compliant to the standards of the Open Geospatial Consortium (WMS, WCS, WCPS, possibly WFS) and allow the orientation, evaluation and downloading of the data. The demonstrator represents an essential component in the GMES-added value chain and is suitable with its focus on raster data (satellite imagery and derived products, oceanography, geophysics, climate data ...) as GMES Core Server in the future.

The project is partly funded by the Bremer Innovations-Gesellschaft mbH.
