- Bremen decided to support the joint initiative of Astrium in Bremen and OHB System to develop a container security system, which meets the new requirements for import regulations of the USA (post September 11).
- The project will be finalized this year by a field-test:
- With 10 containers equipped with a satellite- and RFID-based security system,
- The security system monitors the entire container, detects any breach into the container and reports the breach at any time to the BEOS Control center in Bremen during the entire transportation,
- The containers will be shipped between Bremerhaven seaport and a US seaport (Miami)
